The one thing you don't want miss:
Don't miss the opportunity to explore the ruins of the ancient Mayan city of Tulúm, majestically perched above the turquoise Caribbean. The site was occupied as far back as 600 A.D. However, it was most densely populated around 1200 A.D. You will be struck by the pyramid-shaped El Castillo, which dominates the city from atop a forty-foot cliff. The nearby Temple of the Descending God provides equally excellent insight into the architecture of the Mayan people, who gained considerable achievements in the arts and sciences, only to decline and vanish for no apparent reason.
The north coast town of Montego Bay makes for a very lively and colourful welcome to Jamaica for the many visitors. MoBay, as it's called, offers a steady schedule of food and cultural festivals, and some of the Caribbean's most entertaining beaches (offering water sports, waterfront bars and more). Add in golfing, duty-free shopping and easy access to the island's active adventures, and visitors can have as lazy or as action-packed of a day as they choose.
Montego Bay also serves as the gateway to the best Jamaica has to offer. Just east of Montego Bay is Ocho Rios, best known for its spectacular Dunn's River Falls. Or, travel west to reach the beautiful Seven Mile Beach of Negril, just a one and a half hour drive. Thanks to its central location, Montego Bay gives visitors the best tour experiences of the north coast of Jamaica.
